Coding Camp

Target Audience: Ages 10-15 (Grades 6-10)

Description: The Coding Camp is an engaging introduction to programming and game development, designed for students aged 10 to 15. The first session, Python & Game Development Foundations, teaches the basics of Python programming and game mechanics through hands-on projects. Campers learn coding fundamentals, user input handling, and simple game logic while creating their first playable game. This session focuses on building a strong foundation in computational thinking, problem-solving, and debugging techniques, ensuring students are prepared for more advanced challenges in game development. Once students complete the first session, they can advance to Game Development with Pygame, where they explore more complex game mechanics, interactive features, and custom graphics. This session introduces advanced concepts like sprite animations, sound effects, and user interface design, allowing campers to create a fully functional game. Through interactive workshops, peer collaboration, and play-testing, students refine their coding skills while unleashing their creativity. By the end of the camp, participants will have a deeper understanding of programming logic and game design, empowering them to continue their coding journey with confidence.
